The Beginners Open Question Night (BOQ) is an opportunity for anyone to come along and have a chat with experienced astronomers on how to use your telescope and what are all those bits and pieces are for. If you have also been pondering an issue or a problem and just want to talk about it then the BOQ night is for you. 

Join instructors who have had 20 years experience as they take you through the basics of astronomy and a telescope setup and ask any questions you might have on the topic at hand or whatever you have a query about.

These sessions are open to members (free) and non-members ($20 per family)

The program will run over zoom only with the link sent by email when you register.

Current Agenda (subject to change)

  1. basics of a telescope, aperture, Focal length, etc
  2. Eyepieces
  3. Safety (weights and unbalanced mounts, pinch points, Sun)
  4. The night sky - what is RA and Dec? And Alt/Azi
  5. Finding objects 
  6. Red Dot finders
