August Monthly Showcase winner

19 09 2019

Hi everyone,

Congratulations to Kym Haines who won the August monthly showcase with a beautiful image of the Trifid Nebula. Excellent entries were also received from Jean-Luc Gaubicher, with a smartphone shot of the Moon and Saturn side by side, and from John Sandoval with a star trails video.

The September Monthly Showcase is still open; please send your entries to me at bpetschel@gmail.com. Remember, the entries can be anything astronomy-related and more than 10km up.

Cheers,
Ben

18 09 2019

Guys,

As mentioned in last Tuesday meeting, if you want to support the Australasian Dark Sky Alliance, got to their website https://www.australasiandarkskyalliance.org/.

Also, for those culturally inclined, if you were interested in a theatre production about the women who trained for the American space program (i.e. the Mercury 13), you can find out more at https://www.bonditheatrecompany.com.au/shows/the-stars-at-noon.
