29 07 2019

Hi everyone.

Just confirming for you that tomorrow nights astrophotography night will be on at the Regis Hall at St Ignatius school irrespective of the weather. Andy Casely will be running a demonstration on astrophotography. The topic of it might change depending upon the weather but it should be a good night.

As mentioned previously there is a lucky door prize for a Celestron Skyris camera so make sure you get your tickets from Julie when you enter.

Look forward to seeing you there. Door will be open from about 7pm with formalities kicking off around 7:30pm.

Astro Photography Night + Raffle Prize (Tues 30/07/2019)

20 07 2019

Guys,

We will be holding the next Astro Photography workshop on Tuesday 30th July.

Andy Casely will be doing a practical session (weather permitting of course) on how to image/capture data on the night and how he sets up for a session on planetary photography.

He will be answering questions on how to set up and process an image as well.

The equipment he uses will also be there as well of course whatever the weather situation – so he can still do a practical session of we are rained off), so will be an impressive set up.

As for the CCD camera, that will be raffled on that evening. David S has the details on that, but basically it’s a Celestron Skyris Planetary imager that retails for about $1200.

All the members have to do is get a Raffle ticket from Julie – who will keep record of what number to what Member – and Andy will ‘draw’ the winner at the end of the evening.

If you have any further questions or queries please feel free to reach out to me.

Regards
John Mills
VP NSAS

P.S. All NSAS members and visitors are welcome to attend. We will meet at 7:30pm at Regis Hall (St Ignatius’ College).

P.S.S. The camera was labelled a skyris 445c

Saturday 20th July at Mangrove Mountain

16 07 2019

Hi All,

A couple of us keen Astronomers are planning a trip to Mangrove Mountain this coming Saturday night.

The Moon will rise at about 9PM, giving 3 to 4 hours of very dark sky.

The location has room for a few Telescopes at the location I have used.

The plan is to meet at “The Harvest Kitchen” Peats Ridge Rd, Peats Ridge, at 5PM ( closes at 6PM ).

Have dinner and then on to the observing site.

Please reply directly to me if you plan to come.
